      Frances Bassett Finklea went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 6, 2009, at the age of 87 at Margaret's House in Longview, Texas. She was born on September 13, 1921 to Tom John and Kate Strong Bassett in Henderson Texas. Her early years were spent in Marshall Texas. It was in Marshall that she met and married Judge D. Finklea Sr. who preceded her in death on August 15, 1978.

      From 1959 she lived in Longview, Texas, where she and Judge raised their four children. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class.

      Survivors include her four children and their families, Judy Finklea Oliver of Longview, Texas, Judge D. Jr. and Mindy Finklea of Kilgore, Texas, Genelle Finklea Wooten and Dave Wooten of Longview, Texas, and Jan Finklea Blow and Craig Blow of Aubrey, Texas. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Jackie Oliver Kureska of Kerrville, Texas, Julie Oliver Weeks and Todd Weeks of White Oak, Texas, Janet Oliver of Longview, Texas, Tommy Finklea of Longview, Texas, Shelley Finklea Turner and Tim Turner of Mount Pleasant Texas, Marisa Finklea of Longview, Texas, Dylan Finklea of New York City, New York, and Loren Finklea of Austin, Texas, Robert Watson of Allen, Texas, Nancy Watson Riley of Four Oaks, North Carolina, and Austin Wooten of Longview, Texas, Katie and Jake Blow of Aubrey, Texas.

      She loved her great-grandchildren, Reid, Conner, Kyla, Macy, Katelyn, Austin, Payton, Alyssa, Will, Seth, Kyle, Lane, Kamryn and Zack.

      A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at noon, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with the Revs. David English, Dwayne Beaty and Doug Wintermute officiating. Rader Funeral Home, Longview, in charge of services.

      Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, Texas, Wednesday, April 8, 2009, from 6-7:30 p.m.

      The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Margaret Schottstaedt and her special staff at Beacon Hospice for their loving and compassionate care while at Margaret's House and to Heart to Heart Hospice, Tyler, Texas and to her friends who have traveled this journey with us. She will be loved, missed and remembered by all who knew her
