Dorothy McPhail Guidry, 83 of Deer Park, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2006. Dorothy was a native Houstonian born September 21, 1922 to the late Charles Wesley and Bernice Lee McPhail. The daughter of a Methodist minister, Dorothy graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown with her Bachelors in Business. She later received her Education degree from the University of Houston and went on to teach for many years with the Houston Independent School District. She as well volunteered with DPISD and was previously voted volunteer of the year. She was a longtime member of Deer Park United Methodist Church. Family was a passion for Dorothy; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 30 years, Raymond Louis Guidry and 2 brothers, Charles L. McPhail and Wilson McPhail, and nephew, Charles L. McPhail, Jr. Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Dorothy Hocott and her husband Jerry, Linda Harrison and her husband David; sisters-in-law, Otha Lane McPhail, Ann Jones, and Lucy Guidry. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kimberly Hocott, Wesley Hocott, Troy Harrison and his wife Stephanie, Tray Harrison and his wife Makayla; great grandchildren, Reese Harrison and Troy Harrison II; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Visitation will held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, on Monday, May 8, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving guest from 6:00 to 8:00. Services celebrating Dorothy's life will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 3:00 PM at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 1300 East 13th Street, Deer Park, with Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
