      Jasper Kilburn Holmes, 81, of 1309 E. Houston, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday (July 23, 1957) at the Texas and Pacific Railway Hospital.

      Funeral services are to be held at 4 p.m. Thursday from Rains & Talley Chapel. The Rev. John Wesley Hardt, pastor of the First Methodist Church, is to officiate. Burial is to be in Greenwood Cemetery.

      Pallbearers are to be Reece Petty, Luke Woodley, Gay Marsh, Bill LaRue, W. S. Hamilton Jr., and James S. Hicks. Honorary pallbearers are to be members of the 40 Year Club and friends.

      Mr. Holmes, a native of Tennessee, was born Oct. 5, 1875, the son of the late Ike Holmes and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Holmes of Tennessee. He was employed in the reclamation plant of the Texas and Pacific Railway at Marshall for 45 years. He was a member of the 40 Year Club of the T&P Railway.

      Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Holmes, Marshall; three daughters, Mrs. H. H. Worley, Odessa; Mrs. C. F. Hill, Augusta, S.C.; and Mrs. Helen Holland, Fort Worth; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one nephew and one cousin.
