      MARSHALL — Cason Scott Westmoreland, 22, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014, in Dallas, Texas. He was born May 24, 1991, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to John Scott and Amy Lynn McBrayer Westmoreland.
      Cason was a 2009 graduate of Marshall High School and was currently a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University. While at Marshall High School, Cason was a member of the golf team and served as captain his senior year. He was also active in FFA and served on the Forestry team. Cason was an Eagle Scout. Cason loved cars and had a passion for drag racing. He enjoyed hunting with friends and spending time outdoors.
      Cason is survived by his parents, John Scott and Amy Westmoreland; brother, Janson Westmoreland; grandparents, Mrs. H.H. (Jeannie) Westmoreland and Richard and Martha McBrayer; uncle, W.H. “Will” Westmoreland and wife, Cindy; aunt, Angie Hayes and husband, Mike; cousins, Ripley Westmoreland, Dillon Hayes and Jessi Hayes, all of Marshall and Dusty Hayes and wife, Amber and their children, all of Redwater and special cousin, Kinsley Robbins; lifelong friend, Hunter Shoults; goddaughter, Cooper Layne Shoults; and special uncles, Allen Clark and Jeff Waldrop.
      He was preceded in death by his grandfather, H.H. Westmoreland.
      Visitation was 6 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today, February 9, 2014, at Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville, Texas, with the Rev. Rodger Garbs and Paul Reynolds officiating.
      Honoring Cason as pallbearers will be Clay Smith, Hunter Shoults, Kyle “PeeWee” Russell, Garrett Allen, Lee Buckner, Kyle Phillips, Gene Ponder, Shane Moore, Jacob Williams and Cash Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Ripley Westmoreland, Casey Broadus, Dusty Hayes, Dillon Hayes and Chase Williams.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Episcopal School.
